What Is Brothy Rice

Brothy rice has been trending on TikTok and the internet lately, because it’s the coziest food trend to hit the internet—simple, warm, and incredibly satisfying. It’s somewhere between a soup and a rice bowl, where fragrant broth is poured over cooked rice. The rice soaks up the broth just enough to soften without losing texture. This recipe is my take on the trend: golden, honey soy–glazed chicken served over jasmine rice with a deeply aromatic garlic ginger broth poured right on top.

Ingredients

You’ll need the following ingredients to make the Best Honey Soy Glazed Chicken and Garlic Ginger Broth:

  • Skin-On Chicken Thighs: I used skin-on chicken in this recipe because the it is more tender and the skin crisp up beatifully.
  • Cornstarch: helps the chicken get crispy and golden brown.
  • Neutral Oil: for panfrying
  • Chicken Bone Broth: I used store-bought high protein chicken bone broth, but you can also use homemade bone broth or any broth of your choice.
  • Garlic & Ginger: The aromatic ingredients of the soup, don’t skip these!
