This Cheeseburger Salad with Special Burger Sauce is packed with all the bold, satisfying flavors of a cheeseburger but served as a refreshing salad, this dish is perfect for those who want a lighter, low-carb alternative to a bun-heavy burger.
In a bowl, combine all the ingredients for special burger sauce. Mix well and set aside.
Make Caramelized Onion
In a cooking pan or skillet, heat 1 tbsp of cooking oil over medium-high heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until browned. Once onions begin to look dry, add 1 tbsp of water and continue cooking until the water evaporates. Add 1 tbsp of water again and keep repeating until the onions are dark brown and caramelized.
Cook the Beef
In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tbsp of cooking oil and ground beef. Break the beef apart using a spatula. Cook until until the beef is fully browned. Then add yellow mustard and season with salt and pepper to taste. Top with cheese, cover with a lid, and let the cheese melt. Turn off heat, drain any excess fat, then set the beef aside to cool slightly.
Assemble the Salad
In a big salad bowl, layer the shredded lettuce at the bottom. Add the cooked ground beef to the salad bowl along with the diced tomato, caramelized onions, and pickle chips. Drizzle the burger sauce/dressing over the top and toss everything together until evenly coated. Serve immediately and enjoy!
