Description

Heart shaped matcha rice krispie treats are the perfect treats for Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 10 oz marshmallows
  • 1 tbsp matcha powder
  • 1 cup White chocolate, for drizzle (optional)
  • Sprinkles, for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a cooking pan, melt the butter over low heat.
  2. Once the butter is melted, add marshmallows into the pan. Stir constantly until the marshmallows are completed melted.
  3. Sift matcha powder into the melted marshmallow and stir until well combined.
  4. Turn off the heat and add Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture. Stir until the cereal is evenly coated.
  5. Transfer the rice krispies to a large sheet of parchment paper. Use a spatula to press the mixture firmly and form a rectangular shape.
  6. Cut out the hearts with a heart-shaped cookie cutter. You can reshape the remaining rice krispies mixture into another rectangle and cut out more hearts until you used up all the rice krispies.
  7. Optional: Melt white chocolate using microwave or double boiler method (see blog post for more detail). Drizzle or dip the melted chocolate over rice krispie treats. Add sprinkles and enjoy!

Notes

  • Rice Krispies treats can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • To soften the rice krispies treats, heat in microwave for 10-15 seconds.
