How to make Heart Shaped Rice Krispies Treats?
MELT BUTTER: First, take a large pan or pot and melt the butter over low heat.
ADD MARSHMALLOWS: Add 1 bag of 10z marshmallows to the butter. Stir constantly to prevent marshmallows from burning. Keep stirring until they are completed melted.
ADD MATCHA: Sift the matcha powder into the melted marshmallows and stir until well combined. The marshmallows should turn into a beautiful green color. Turn off heat.
POUR RICE KRISPIES: Pour 6 cups of rice krispies cereal into the matcha marshmallow mixture. Stir until the rice krispies are evenly coated.
PRESS: Line a 9×9 baking pan with parchment paper. Transfer the matcha rice krispies mixture to the prepared parchment paper. Using a greased spatula, press down firmly and shape it into a large rectangle.
CUT OUT THE SHAPE: Cut out the hearts with a heart-shaped cookie cutter. You can reshape the remaining rice krispies mixture into another rectangle and cut out more hearts until you used up all the rice krispies.
Decorating Rice Krispie Treats:
You can customize your rice krispie treats to your liking. You can drizzle or dip the rice krispie treats into melted chocolate, or add chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or sprinkles. Here, I melted 1 cup of high quality white chocolate and drizzle over the rice krispies treats for decoration. Then I add sprinkles on top. You can also use milk chocolate or dark chocolate, and use any sprinkles you have on hand. Or if you prefer, enjoy the matcha rice krispie treat by itself!
There are several methods for melting chocolate, depending on your preference. Here are the two most common methods:
- Microwave Method: Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowel. Microwave the chocolate in short intervals (20-30 seconds), stirring after each interval. Continue microwaving and stirring until the chocolate is completely melted.
- Double Boiler Method: Fill a small saucepan with a few inches of water. Heat water to a simmer. Place chocolate in a heatproof bowl that fits the saucepan. Place the bowl on top of the saucepan, without touching the water. Keep stirring until the chocolate is melted.
