Substitutions

  • Chicken Broth – you can use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth, or make a homemade chicken stock if desired.
  • Noodles – if you can’t find wonton noodles or egg noodles, feel free to use any noodles you prefer.
  • Bok Choy – spinach or Chinese broccoli are also good options.

Equipment

  • Cooking Pot
  • Large Noodle Bowl

How to Store and Reheat

Wonton noodle soup is best enjoyed fresh, but you can store them in the fridge for 1-2 days if needed. Note that the noodles will absorb the broth and soften in the fridge, but it will still taste delicious.

You can reheat wonton noodle soup on a stove or in the microwave.

Top Tips for Success

  • Cook Noodles and Wontons Separately. The broth, noodles, and wontons have different cooking times, so it is recommended to cook them separately. The noodles and wontons also have a lot of starch, so it is better to not mix it with the broth.
  • Add more seasonings to the broth for extra flavors. You can add garlic, ginger, shiitake mushroom, or any aromatics you like to add more flavor to the soup.
  • Customize toppings. I like to make wonton soup simple with minimal ingredients. If you like the soup on the spicier side, feel free to add chili oil or chili flakes. If you like it on the saltier side, add more soy sauce and adjust seasonings to your liking.
