If there is one condiment that deserves a permanent spot in your pantry, it is chili oil. Chili oil is a spicy, aromatic condiment that add flavor to any dish. Whether you are adding to wontons, noodles, tofu, or eggs, chili oil can make everything tastes better!
Below are some of my favorite ways to use chili oil.
WHAT IS CHILI OIL?
Chili Oil is a simple yet powerful and flavorful condiment made by infusing oil with dried chili flakes, often with the addition of garlic, green onion, and spices like chili powder. It has the perfect balance of heat and rich, bold flavor that makes every dish more exciting. Chili oil is more than just a condiment – it is a game-changer in the kitchen. Whether you are looking to add a kick to your favorite dishes or turn a boring meal into a delicious meal, chili oil is the perfect choice!
HOW TO MAKE CHILI OIL?
Although you can easily find chili oil in most grocery stores, I like to make my own at home because it allows fresher ingredients and I can customize it however I like. You can check out my HOMEMADE CHILI OIL RECIPE – this is my mom’s recipe, I have been using this recipe for years now and I think it is the BEST homemade chili oil.
1. SHRIMP AND CHIVES WONTONS
These wontons combine the sweetness of shrimp with the freshness of chives, all wrapped in wonton wrappers and served with delicious chili oil. These shrimp and chive wontons are perfect for appetizers, snacks, or light meals!
2. CHILI GARLIC SILKEN TOFU
Chili Garlic Silken Tofu is a flavorful dish that features soft and silky tofu topped with spicy and aromatic chili garlic sauce, and can be made in under 10 minutes! This is what I make whenever I don’t feel like cooking. You can eat it as a cold dish, or you can steam it and serve it hot. Its bold, spicy, and savory flavors are addicting in every bite!
3. CHINESE STEAMED EGGS
Smooth and silky, Chinese steamed eggs is a classic comforting dish with satisfying flavor, and it only requires 3 simple ingredients. Chinese steamed eggs are known for their ultra-smooth and silky texture, similar to soft tofu. When you bite into it, the eggs immediately melt in your mouth. This classic and comforting dish is made by whisking eggs with broth or water and gently steamed to create a delicate consistency. It is often served as a light dish, perfect for eating with rice or other savory dishes.
