The first time I had garlic noodles was when I moved to California 5 years ago, and they have been my favorite ever since. There’s something about noodles combined with garlic, butter, and parmesan cheese. I mean, garlic and butter? What’s not to love! I later learned that this dish originated in San Francisco’s Vietnamese restaurants and has since become a beloved comfort food favorite all across California. Garlic noodles are known for their aromatic and bold garlic flavor and are usually served as a main dish or alongside seafood or meat. I’m not sure how many garlic clove restaurants typically add into their noodles, but I found 15 cloves perfect for this recipe.

INGREDIENTS
- Noodles of your choice (I used spaghetti for this recipe)
- Unsalted Butter
- Garlic
- Oyster Sauce
- Soy Sauce
- Fish Sauce
- Sugar
- Parmesan Cheese
- Green Onion
HOW TO MAKE THE BEST GARLIC NOODLES
Cook the Noodles
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain noodles and rinse under cold water. Set them aside.
I used spaghetti in this recipe, but you can use any noodles of your choice.
Sauté the Garlic
In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until the garlic is fragrant, about 2 minutes.
Add the Sauce
Add oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar to the pan. Stir until combined.
Combine Noodles and Sauce
Add cooked noodles to the pan. Toss everything together until noodles are evenly coated with the sauce and heated through.
Add Parmesan Cheese and Green Onion
Add grated parmesan cheese and chopped green onions to the noodles and toss to combined. Transfer noodles to a serving dish and top with more grated parmesan cheese. Serve hot and enjoy!

- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 15 clove garlic, mined
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Cook noodles according to package instructions. Drain noodles and set them aside.
- In a pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant. Then add oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, and sugar. Stir until well combined
