Description

Make these super flavorful Korean Marinated Eggs with this easy recipe! These eggs are soaked in a sweet and savory soy sauce marinade with a soft jammy center.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 Large Eggs
  • 1/4 onion, chopped
  • 4 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 green onion, chopped
  • 4 red chili, chopped
  • 1 Korean chili pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup rice syrup or honey
  • 1/2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully lower the eggs into the boiling water using a strainer, then cover with a lid. Let it cook for 6 minutes for the perfect soft boiled eggs.
  2. Once done, remove the lid and carefully transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice bath. Let them cool for at least 15 minutes before peeling. Gently peel the eggs and set them aside while you prepare the marinade.
  3. In a bowl or container, combine onion, garlic, green onion, soy sauce, water, rice syrup, red chili, Korean chili pepper, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. Stir until the syrup is fully dissolved and all the ingredients are well combined.
  4. Place the peeled eggs into the marinade. Give it a good mix to make sure that the eggs are immersed in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  5. When ready to serve, remove the eggs from the marinade. Serve the eggs with steamed rice, and drizzle more marinade on top of the rice. Mayak eggs can also be enjoyed as a side dish or on their own as a flavorful snack!
