Low Carb Shrimp Rice Paper Noodle Rolls (Cheung Fun)
Rice Paper Shrimp Cheung Fun is a refreshing, healthier take on the classic Cantonese dim sum dish. Instead of using traditional flour, I used rice paper, making it a great lower-carb and lower calorie alternative. You get the same chewy texture you love from classic noodle rolls, with an extra boost of flavor from fresh shrimp, green onions, and dipping sauce.

Shrimp Rice Paper Noodle Rolls (Cheung Fun)
Rice Paper Shrimp Cheung Fun is a refreshing, healthier take on the classic Cantonese dim sum dish. Instead of using traditional flour, I used rice paper, making it a great lower-carb and lower calorie alternative. You get the same chewy texture you love from classic noodle rolls, with an extra boost of flavor from fresh shrimp, green onions, and dipping sauce.
Ingredients
- 6 sheets rice paper
- water
- 18 shrimps
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp oil, for brushing
Dipping Sauce
- 2 tbsp light soy sauce
- 1 tsp dark soy sauce
- 2 tsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 3 tbsp water
- chili oil, optional
Instructions
- Fill a shallow bowl or plate with warm water. Gently dip one rice paper sheet into the water for 5-10 seconds, just enough to soften it.
- Place the wet rice paper on a flat surface or cutting board. Add 3 shrimp in the center, and sprinkle some chopped green onions on top.
- Fold the sides of the rice paper inward, then roll it up tightly, making sure the ingredients stay tucked in. Repeat the process with the remaining rice paper and shrimp.
- Brush some oil on top of the noodle rolls to prevent sticking.
- Place the shrimp rice noodles on top of a plate, then place the plate into a steamer. Steam for 3-5 minutes or until the shrimp is cooked through.
- For the sauce, mix light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and water into a small bowl.
- Pour the sauce on top of the noodle rolls. Drizzle some chili oil if desired and sprinkle more green onions on top. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Just made these in my 1000watt microwave oven (1 minute+ 20 seconds with 2 Tblspns of water and using a microwave steamer container having oiled the inner basket) and they were a treat! Next will your shrimp wontons.
