After Dalgona Coffee, the latest viral food video popping up on TikTok is something very small and simple – PANCAKE CEREAL.
To be honest, I am a sucker for food trends. When Dominique Ansel created Cronut, I waited in line for 2 hours. When Mr. Holmes Bakehouse popularized Cruffins, you bet I made sure to pay a visit while visiting San Francisco. When dalgona coffee videos went viral, I made a TikTok account just so I can see how everyone was making it. I can go on and on about my trendy food craze.
Some people might think that food trends are overrated. To me, discovering food trends allow me to explore endless amount of creativity and keep up with my curiosity. Besides, I usually have a lot of fun making trendy food. And this time, it was no difference. As soon as I saw these cute mini pancakes, I knew I had to try making them!
WHAT IS PANCAKE CEREAL?
There’s no secret here. Pancake cereal is simply your regular pancake made in tiny cereal size. The recipe is the same as making a normal size pancake. Pancake batter can be either made from scratch or from boxed pancake mix.
HOW TO MAKE PANCAKE CEREAL?
Again, no top secret here. Prepare your pancake batter as you normally would. Make sure the batter is not too thick or too thin. If it’s too thin, the batter will spread too much on the pan. If it’s too thick, it’ll be hard to squeeze out from a tiny hole.
Transfer the batter into a piping bag, ziplock bag, or a condiment squeeze bottle. Don’t cut off the tip of the bag until you’re ready to cook, and make sure to make a small hole!
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Brush the pan with oil or use a paper towel and wipe oil over the pan. You only need to do this the FIRST TIME. I find that too much oil will not give you that beautiful brown color and crispy texture. When you pipe the batter, make sure to leave some space in between pancakes as they will spread.
HOW TO FLIP PANCAKE CEREAL?
I have seen people using a big spatula or flipper to flip the tiny pancakes all at once. Some people use tiny spatula to flip a few at a time. If you want to test your chopstick skills, you can do what I did, use chopsticks to pick up each pancake individually.
HOW TO EAT PANCAKE CEREAL?
- Drizzle with maple syrup + butter
- Spoon it with milk of choice
- Grab a handful and just eat it by itself
- Sprinkle with chocolate chips, sprinkles, coconut, cinnamon, crushed oreos, powdered sugar, fruits, nuts, etc.

- ¼ tsp salt
- oil for the pan
Instructions
