WHAT ARE CRINKLE COOKIES:
Crinkle cookies are the classic treats known for their soft and buttery centers and crackly top. They are rolled and coated in powdered sugar before baking so they form the crinkled texture as they expand in the oven. They are not only delicious, but also visually appeal, making them a festive and fun addition to any cookie tray.

INGREDIENTS:
- Butter, unsalted
- White Sugar
- Eggs
- All Purpose Flour
- Baking Powder
- Salt
- Red Food Coloring or Coloring Gel
- Blue Food Coloring or Coloring Gel
- Powdered Sugar
HOW TO MAKE 4TH OF JULY CRINKLE COOKIES?
Prepare Wet Ingredients:
In a large bowl, add soft butter and sugar. Use a spatula or handheld mixer and mix until smooth and combined.
Then add 2 eggs and mix until smooth.
Prepare Dry Ingredients:
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into the bowl of wet ingredients. Mix until combined. The dough should be thick and sticky.
Chill the Dough
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Preheat the Oven
Preheat the oven to 350F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
Divide the Dough
Divide the chilled dough into 3 equal parts and place them in 3 different bowls. If you are using a scale for precise measurements, each portion should weight about 240-260 grams.
Add Food Coloring
Add red food coloring to one bowl, and blue food coloring to another bowl. Gently knead the dough with a spatula and mix until the dough turns into an even color. Leave the last bowl plain.
Shape the Cookies
Take 1/2 tablespoon of each color and combine them. Use the palm of your hands to shape them into ball. Set them aside and repeat with the remaining dough.
Roll in Powdered Sugar
Place powdered sugar in a small bowl. Roll each ball in powdered sugar and make sure to coat thoroughly and evenly. Coat each ball twice to ensure the top gets enough powdered sugar to create the classic crinkle texture!
Bake the Cookies
Place the coated cookie dough on the prepared baking sheets, leaving some space in between. Bake for about 12-14 minutes, or until the tops are cracked. The cookies should still be soft in the center but set around the edges.
Leave the cookies on the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer them onto a wire rack and allow to cool completely. Enjoy!
TIPS FOR THE PERFECT CRINKLE COOKIES
- CHILL THE DOUGH: Make sure to chill the dough for at least 1 hour or overnight. The cookie dough can be very sticky, chilling the dough can make it easier to roll into shape. It can also help prevent the cookies from spreading too much during baking to ensure that they form that classic crinkled top.
- DOUBLE COATING: Coat the dough balls generously TWICE in powdered sugar. Some of the sugar will either fall off or dissolve after the first coating. Coating it twice will help form the crinkled appearance.
- AVOID OVERBAKING: Crinkle cookies should be soft and fudgy in the center. Overbaking will change the texture of the cookies.
